Presently, production continues to transfer to "third coast" locations - and film jobs and film internships are not anymore concentrated in the southern part of California. Because of this, the need for film professionals across the country has significantly increased.

Still, Southern California is the primary hub of talents for the film industry. Need for top writers, actors, directors, editors and other key professionals remains unwavering in the L.A. area.

Meanwhile, New York City has also seen an increase in production with various network and critically acclaimed cable TV series using it as their home base. Commercial and feature film production in NYC also remains at a healthy level.

The "third coast" locations, situated between the coasts, has become a whole new era in feature film production. Over the last decade, Texas, Louisiana, and Florida - also known as gulf states - have seen a significant increase in production. While these films usually bring in key staff, the need for locally hired production crew has taken a big jump. This then resulted to a major increase in the number of film jobs offered in these areas. Accordingly, the said location has an increased demand for film talent.

Other major metropolitan areas such as Chicago, Minneapolis as well as San Francisco have also established themselves as film production giants. Chicago alone has been home to such major film productions like "The Dark Knight" including TV dramas like, "The Beast" which starred the late Patrick Swayze.

While not entirely "recession-proof," the film industry has shown itself to be particularly resilient during past times of economic downturn. This can be explained by the fact that people try to find solace in entertainment - in television shows and movies - when recession hits.

The fact that production has embraced the digital age also resulted to a boost in demand for talent. Today, the demand has never been greater especially that film production has been done virtually anywhere and in new ways.

The industry always needs new face including writers and directors with new ideas. This paves way for the increase in demand of "below-the-line" talent in key production functions. Talented, trained personnel to work as art directors, sound people, cinematographers, grips, and lighting people, are an invaluable part of any film production.

The demand for these talented, trained professionals to work film jobs and film internships in new media and in new areas shall continue to grow as long as film production continues to migrate from the coasts and diversify.
